Jesus continues his teaching, this time directed to the Pharisees. All of chapter seven is a teaching unit, and I will break it down into four sermons. In this first sermon, I look at the superiority of God’s Law over man-made traditions. (March 15, 2020)

Expanding further on the previous teaching on the Law, Jesus now makes clear what the Pharisees had muddied. In this second sermon, I look at what defiles a person is not what he takes in with his mouth, but what comes out of the heart. (August 23, 2020)

The Evangelist immediately shows the consistency of Jesus and his teaching by including His ministry into the region of Tyre and Sidon. In this third sermon I look at Jesus’ encounter with a Syrophoenician mother and discuss the only way to racial reconciliation. (August 30, 2020)

After his conversation with the Syrophoenician Mother, Jesus then encounters a deaf-mute, further challenging the Pharisees’ notions of uncleanliness. Many false preachers point to texts like these to promote the “Word of Faith” prosperity Gospel. In this sermon I argue Jesus heals us spiritually by loosing our bondage to sin. (September 6, 2020)
