The “minor prophets” are misleadingly categorized. Though the word count of these twelve men may fall short of Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Isaiah, they, nevertheless, convey important truths to God’s people.
Follow along in this 12-week series looking at the major messages of the minor prophets.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Hosea”

Hosea 11:1-7
When Men are faithless, God remains faithful to His children.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Joel”

Joel 2:28-32
When the third Person of the Trinity, God the Holy Spirit, fills believers, He does several things, all prophesied by Joel.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Amos”

Amos 5:18-24
Our corporate worship is designed by God; yet, sin creeps into the church and defiles her worship. Amos prophesied the true worship God demands and the result of hypocritical worship.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Obadiah”

Obadiah 10-14
What appears to be an obscure prophet with an obscurer prophecy turns out to be one of the key texts Paul uses to defend the doctrine of election. In this message, I do the same.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Jonah”

Jonah 4:5-11
The Prophet Jonah’s story is shared with Christians since childhood. Too often, the doctrine of God’s sovereign grace gets overlooked. In this sermon, I return to the doctrine of election and look at grace through Jonah’s eyes.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Micah”

Micah 2:6-13
Micah, a contemporary of Isaiah, spoke against many of the same sins in Israel. The main source of these sins was Israel’s submission to false teaching.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Nahum”

Nahum 1:2-8
Finally Jonah’s wish comes true! The Prophet Nahum declares destruction on the people of Nineveh and such judgement finally comes to fruition. This raises questions about God’s wrath in light of His goodness.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Habakkuk”

Habakkuk 2:18-3:6
After considering God’s wrath and goodness, the Minor Prophets invite us now to consider God’s will being done. Pastor Steven Haley delivers the major message of the Prophet Habakkuk on God’s providence.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Zephaniah”

Zephaniah 3:14-20
In light of Habakkuk’s teaching on the providence and will of God, Zephaniah reminds us of the monergistic work of God in salvation.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Haggai”

Haggai 2:1-9
Since God is the one and only worker of salvation, Haggai points us to our need for humility before Him by reminding us of the Temple’s importance.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Zechariah”

Zechariah 3:1-5
Following Haggai’s prophecy against Israel’s failure to glorify God and subsequent prophecy of the majesty of the second Temple (prefiguring Christ, of course), Zechariah has a vision, a Christophany. God invites us into a courtroom scene with an important message on imputed righteousness.

“Major Message of
the Prophet Malachi”

Malachi 3:6-10
Rounding out the Minor Prophets and in conclusion of this series, Malachi gives us some of the most practical of advice. The implications of God’s sovereign grace is our response of thanksgiving. Malachi pinpoints the tithe and we narrow in on the importance of giving to God.
