This passage follows immediately on the heels of the last one. In that one I argued Jesus is talking about how we are being fed. In this sermon I show how this is the case when Jesus gets upset at the Disciples for misunderstanding the miracle of the loaves and fishes.

In this great example of faith, authority, and compassion, Jesus feeds over 10,000 people with five loaves and two fish. Leftist preachers use this passage to promote social justice. Word of Faith preachers use this passage to promote the power of positive prayer. The true Christian sees that Jesus is talking about being fed by the him.

John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin and the herald of his ministry, is killed because of the vengeful desires of one woman. Mark takes the time to detail the events surrounding John’s death, so I, too, must take the time to unpack it.

Jesus empowered and instructed his Disciples to teach in his name.
